Customer Service - The Difference between Surviving and SoaringBusinesses of many sizes have what they call customer service. Too often, even large companies misunderstand what customer
service really is. Staff who rigidly enforce the company's policies, no matter, are actually doing the company--and
the customer--a disservice. A better approach is to empower and encourage staff to be responsive to the specific
issues and special circumstances of each problem situation. A flexible approach can make all the difference between merely
making a short-term profit or taking a longer view toward gaining the loyalty of lifetime customers. Bad customer service
is pennywise and pound foolish, as the saying goes.
